Polish meads

Polish meads represent one of the oldest and most regulated mead traditions in Europe. The term Miód Pitny cannot be used freely—only products that meet strict Polish regulations can carry this designation.

Styles are defined by the ratio of honey to water, which clearly indicates sweetness, body, and aging potential.

Types:

  • Quarter – made with 1 part honey to 3 parts water – lighter, fresher style with a semi-sweet profile (Czwórniak)
  • Third – made with 1 part honey to 2 parts water – balanced, often fruity character with a semi-sweet profile (Trójniak)
  • Half – made with equal parts honey and water – richer, typically sweet style (Dwójniak)
  • Two-third – made with 2 parts honey to 1 part water – dense, intense, dessert-style mead (Półtorak)

Polish meads are known for longer aging, consistent quality, and a classic flavor profile. If you’re looking for a more “traditional” mead experience, this category is the perfect place to start.
